The SBMU Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease Research Center was established in 2018 in Imam Hossein Hospital and approved by the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education in 2023. The main objectives are the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases and strengthening the health of the population. The Science Center strives to encourage cooperation between researchers, experts and various organizations to achieve its goals.

 

Areas of research:

1. Basic sciences (Epidemiology, Public Health, Genetics, Physiology and Health economics)

2. Clinical sciences (Cardiology, diagnostic tools and pharmacological therapies to prevent CVDs)

3. Health Systems Research (HSR) such as:

  • Cost-effectiveness (treatment, interventions, screening)
  • Quaternary Prevention (over diagnosis and over medication)
  • Social Determinants of Health (SDH)
  • Assessment of health systems
  • Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS)
  • Burden of Cardiovascular diseases
